The Rundown:

Going into the 2022 Fleet Feet Invitational, the top runner on paper is Madison Central's Colin Brannon. He made his season debut with a comfortable victory at the 2022 Jaguar Trails Opener.

RESULTS: 2022 Jaguar Trails Opener

He was unable to race The Opener, so it is still early on in the season, but Brannon has the potential to throw down some significant marks and could potentially take his second win of the year.

Another name to look out for is Pearl High School's, Tanner Moore.

He is coming off his debut at the 2022 City Auto Memphis Twilight XC Classic, where he ran 17:26 for 5K. Moore boasts a PR of 16:36 in the 5k, and after a solid track season which included a 4:34 1600m PR, he is very well in the hunt for a win at the 2022 Fleet Feet Invitational.

Lastly, keep an eye on Germantown's Kohl Griffin.

He opened up his season with a victory and course record at the 2022 Eagle Claw Invitational.

He followed that win up with a solid 12th-place finish at The Opener. He went sub-17 in the 5k in 2021 and is on track to do the same this season.

RESULTS: The Opener

Some honorable mentions to remember going into Saturday are Madison Central's Benjamin Owens and Davis Welch and Brandon High's Dylan Chapman.

Here is our pick: All three of the athletes mentioned above are from MHSAA 6A and are no strangers to racing each other.

Moore is a prominent miler that also has a flashy 5K time of 16:36 to his name, and Griffin is someone that also has some untapped potential. But Brannon is an aerobic monster who is really good on grass, and we think a challenging course such as NW Rankin will favor him.

There are a couple of unknowns with Brannon not racing at The Opener, but if a healthy Colin Brannon is on the starting line, we're calling him to win.
